The UK National Metrology Laboratory publishes its annual RoHS compliance report.

NO.14/2009

The National Laboratory for Metrology (NWML) published its 2008 RoHS Implementation Annual Report on 31 March 2009. This report reviews NWML's activities in implementing the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) commissioned by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) between 1 April 2008 and 31 March 2009.

Since the RoHS Directive came into effect on July 1, 2006, related disputes still exist for manufacturers in the UK:

Between 2008 and 2009, NWML promoted RoHS compliance to electronic and electrical equipment manufacturers and related entities through various channels, such as:

The report indicates that compared to the previous year, companies as a whole have shown a significant improvement in their understanding and compliance with the RoHS Directive. NWML will continue to work with UK electronics and electrical equipment manufacturers to ensure that the majority of products on the market comply with the directive. NWML will also fully support the RoHS Directive in its review and amendment phases.
