Prior to this, 22 countries signed a US-led nuclear declaration at COP28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sama Bilbao y Leon, Director General of the World Nuclear Association (WNA), said the commitment calls on governments, multilateral development banks and the World Bank to ensure that nuclear energy receives climate finance on an equal footing with other clean energy sources, enabling the nuclear energy industry to be deployed on a large scale globally and make a significant contribution to mitigating climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Russia did not sign the declaration, it welcomed its positive stance. Russian Deputy Economy Minister Vladimir Ilyichev stated that climate goals cannot be achieved without nuclear energy. Furthermore, Rosatom, the Russian state nuclear energy corporation, has joined the \"Net Zero Nuclear Industry Commitment,\" stating that nuclear energy is a proven, rapid, and resilient solution for deep decarbonization.
