The world's 330 million sport utility vehicles (SUVs) emitted nearly 1 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2022, more than Germany's annual emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IEA pointed out that although traditional car sales slowed in 2022 and SUV sales decreased by about 1 million units, global SUV oil demand still increased by about 500,000 barrels per day, accounting for one-third of the total increase in global oil demand, because SUVs consume 20% more gasoline than ordinary mid-size cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, electric vehicle sales are expected to reach a record high of over 10 million in 2022. This includes both electric SUVs and electric non-SUVs.
