Producers and importers of finished products in the EU and the European Economic Area are obligated to notify the European Chemicals Agency (ECA) if their finished products contain any substance on the REACH Directive's Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) at a concentration exceeding 0.1% and exceeding one tonne (per company per year in the produced or imported finished products). The relevant notification deadlines are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/td>For SVHCs announced before December 1, 2010, the notification date must be no later than June 1, 2011.<\/td><\/tr>

\"\"<\/td>Annex V and Draft Guidelines on Waste \u2013 The European Commission has completed and published a draft of Annex V and guidelines on waste and recyclable materials. These two documents have been submitted to the European Chemicals Agency for future cooperation and development with Member States and stakeholders.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the hazardous substances listed in Annex 17 of the REACH Regulation will also be implemented from 2009\/06\/01.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

**Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Regulations** REACH Regulation Article 33, Paragraph 2 requires retailers and manufacturers to disclose information about substances in their products. When consumers inquire whether a product contains SVHCs, suppliers must provide a response within 45 days, stating whether the product contains SVHCs at a concentration higher than 0.1% (w\/w), and if so, providing the chemical name and safe usage guidelines for the substance. SGS can provide completed Technical Data Sheets and SVHC questionnaires free of charge to assist customers in calculating the absolute weight of SVHCs in the finished product for their response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
