These paid paper bags are thicker and more durable than the previously free ones, and are also water-repellent. They are priced at 30 yen (approximately NT$8) and 50 yen each, depending on size. Clothing and general merchandise sections will continue to provide free paper bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Department store operators say they hope that through these efforts, about 30% of consumers will bring their own reusable shopping bags.
