The consultation on the new RoHS exclusion items, which has already undergone two separate public consultations with stakeholders, has recently begun soliciting opinions on the fifth application for a new RoHS exclusion item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Article 5(2) of RoHS Directive 2002\/95\/EC, the European Commission is required to consult with stakeholders before amending any exclusions in the Annexes. The results of the consultation will be forwarded to the RoHS Technical Adaptation Committee (TAC), and the Commission is required to provide a channel for collecting such information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on Article 5(1)(b) of the RoHS Directive, the European Commission recently received applications from industry for RoHS exclusion projects. Therefore, the \u00d6ko-Institut and Fraunhofer IZM, on behalf of the European Commission, have initiated a third public consultation with stakeholders regarding potential amendments to the RoHS Annexes. Those submitting requests for amendments are fully responsible for their wording and the evidence they provide. Furthermore, the role of the \u00d6ko-Institut and Fraunhofer IZM is to collect and assess the information provided by stakeholders, and not to make any decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
