The EU publishes directives on amended and newly added RoHS exemptions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Commission published decisions 2009\/428\/EC and 2009\/443\/EC on June 4 and 10, 2009, respectively, amending the RoHS Directive (2002\/95\/EC). Decision 2009\/428\/EC amended exemption provision 22, and Decision 2009\/443\/EC added six new exemptions concerning lead, cadmium, and mercury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following sufficient scientific and technical evaluation, the Committee concluded that rare earth iron garnet (RIG) Faraday rotators already exist that comply with the lead content limits of the RoHS Directive (2002\/95\/EC), and therefore this exemption should be reconsidered. Consequently, Article 22 of 2009\/428\/EEC was amended as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

22.\u00a0\u7528\u65bc\u5149\u7e96\u901a\u8a0a\u7cfb\u7d71\u7684\u7a00\u571f\u9435\u77f3\u69b4\u77f3(RIG)\u6cd5\u62c9\u7b2c\u65cb\u8f49\u5668\u4e2d\u4f5c\u70ba\u96dc\u8cea\u7684\u925b\uff0c\u8c41\u514d\u671f\u5c07\u65bc2009\/12\/31\u622a\u6b62\u3002<\/td>22.Lead as impurity in RIG (rare earth iron garnet) Faraday rotators used for fibre optic communication systems until 31 December 2009.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Directive 2009\/443\/EC added six RoHS exemptions, the applications of which are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

33.\u00a0\u96fb\u6e90\u8b8a\u58d3\u5668\u4e2d\uff0c\u7528\u4f86\u710a\u63a5\u7d30\u9285\u7dda(\u76f4\u5f91\u7b49\u65bc\u6216\u5c0f\u65bc100\u03bcm)\u7684\u710a\u6599\u4e2d\u6240\u542b\u7684\u925b\u3002<\/td>33.Lead in solders for the soldering of thin copper wires of 100 \u03bcm diameter and less in power transformers.<\/td><\/tr>
34.\u00a0\u91d1\u5c6c\u9676\u74f7\u5fae\u8abf\u96fb\u4f4d\u5668\u5143\u7d20\u4e2d\u7684\u925b\u3002<\/td>34.Lead in cermet-based trimmer potentiometer elements.<\/td><\/tr>
35.\u00a0\u5c08\u696d\u97f3\u97ff\u8a2d\u5099\u4e2d\uff0c\u5149\u5076\u5408\u5668\u7684\u5149\u963b\u5167\u6240\u542b\u7684\u9398\u3002\u6b64\u9805\u8c41\u514d\u65bc2009\u5e7412\u670831\u65e5\u622a\u6b62\u3002<\/td>35.Cadmium in photoresistors for optocouplers applied in professional audio equipment until 31 December 2009.<\/td><\/tr>
36.\u00a0\u76f4\u6d41\u96fb\u6f3f\u986f\u793a\u5668\u4e2d\uff0c\u7528\u4f5c\u9670\u6975\u6ffa\u934d\u6291\u5236\u5291\u7684\u6c5e\uff0c\u6bcf\u53f0\u986f\u793a\u5668\u7684\u542b\u91cf\u4e0d\u5f97\u5927\u65bc30\u6beb\u514b\u3002<\/td>36.Mercury used as a cathode sputtering inhibitor in DC plasma displays with a content up to 30 mg per display
