The European Union's ECHA has published 15 recommendations for inclusion in the SVHC candidate list.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        In accordance with the authorization process of the EU REACH Regulation and the requirements of the Executive Committee, the 27 EU member states and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published 15 recommendations in September 2009 to be included in the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Article 57 of the EU REACH Regulation, substances that meet the following characteristics are classified as SVHCs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. CMR Class I and II<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. PBT and vPvB-like substances<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Substances possessing the above characteristics but not belonging to the above categories (such as endocrine disruptors).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      EU member states and ECHA, in accordance with Annex 15 of the REACH Regulation, prepared a file of these 15 recommendations for inclusion in the SVHC candidate list and provided a 45-day consultation period. Those with comments could respond on the ECHA website within the deadline (October 15, 2009).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
