This proposal is expected to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union around the end of October 2013 and officially enter into force at the end of 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Annex 17, Section 50 of the REACH Regulation primarily restricts polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in tire filler oils. This proposal includes PAHs. The specific proposal is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 The content limit for PAHs in finished plastic or rubber parts that come into contact with consumers should be set at less than 1 mg\/kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 For children's products and toys, the content of PAHs in rubber and plastic parts that children come into contact with must not exceed 0.5 mg\/kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 The restrictions on PAHs have been extended to finished products and components that will come into repeated contact with the skin or mouth for long or short periods of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this restriction does not apply to objects that only come into contact with the skin or mouth for short periods or occasionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, there are alternative raw materials with low PAH content available in the EU market, including carbon black and oils.
