Products containing bromine and chlorine-based flame retardants and PVC release particularly harmful bromine and chlorine dioxins and furans. These substances can cause cancer, damage the nervous and immune systems, lead to birth defects, disrupt the reproductive system, and cause developmental disorders in children. Scientists are calling for public attention to these flame retardants, a clear example of preventative measures taken by the European Union.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Environmental organizations and industry have provided sufficient evidence to justify the immediate restriction of the use of chlorinated and brominated flame retardants and PVC materials in electronic and electrical appliances.
