The plan, published on ECHA's official website, includes only 91 substances, far fewer than initially expected. These substances are to be assessed between 2012 and 2014, and only registered substances require evaluation. Unlike previous assessments, this time the evaluations will be conducted by individual EU member states. The final CoRAP will clarify the assessment responsibilities of each country for each chemical substance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2012, triclosan, an assessed substance, was banned in the EU for use on plastics that come into contact with food because it interferes with animal hormones. Additionally, the chlorinated solvents carbon tetrachloride, ethylene oxide, toluene, and methanol from the same batch of substances will be uniformly classified as Group 2 reproductive toxicity by Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The substances proposed in 2013 include three types: chlorinated solvents, tetrachloroethylene, and formaldehyde. Last year, France submitted a proposal that classifies them as Group 1 carcinogens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Substances to be evaluated in 2014 include: phthalates: diethyl phthalate, diundecyl phthalate and diundecyl phthalate, branched and linear, and titanium dioxide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The REACH regulation stipulates that ECHA must submit a draft of CoRAP to all member states by December 1, 2011, and thereafter must update the CoRAP plan to member states by February 28th of each year.
