According to the Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL) announced by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), starting from April 1, 2011, manufacturers and importers in Japan are required to conduct an annual notification of new chemical substances. Failure to do so may result in the inability to manufacture or import the substance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December of last year (2012), Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the production\/import volumes and reporting periods for new chemical substances subject to notification obligations for this year (2013). The term \"small-volume new chemical substance\" refers to an annual production\/import volume of less than or equal to 1 ton. Therefore, the notification period for small-volume new chemical substances this year is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry reminds relevant businesses that the second phase of the notification obligation period is from June 3 to June 10. Notifications must be submitted and approved during the above period before production\/import can proceed.
