In 2013, Green Homes accounted for 23% of the overall U.S. residential construction market. According to forecasts, by 2016, this share is expected to grow significantly to about one-third of the residential construction market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a survey conducted by McGraw Hill Construction in the U.S., tracing back to 2006, green building development has not been affected by the housing market downturn in recent years; instead, it has grown against the trend.\nConstruction companies with expertise in green building are more competitive than those unfamiliar with energy-saving, carbon-reducing, or Green Homes practices, and are less likely to be eliminated from the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on the current growth trend of Green Homes, the total construction value in 2016 is expected to increase from $36 billion in 2013 to between $83 billion and $105 billion.\nThese figures come from McGraw Hill Construction\u2019s major survey of green home builders and remodelers, presented at the National Association of Home Builders International Builders\u2019 Show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
