The European Union has implemented the Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) since 2004. Its main purpose is to ensure that European consumers can buy safe products. It also serves as an information aggregation platform for market surveillance agencies among EU member states and the European Commission to exchange and quickly notify each other of dangerous goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
RAPEX publishes weekly reports on the names and brands of notified products, their countries of origin, the reasons for being notified as dangerous goods, and the subsequent market handling mechanisms. Since its inception in 2004, thousands of products have been blacklisted each year. Notified products are subject to varying degrees of corrective measures due to market surveillance requirements from EU member state authorities, and in severe cases, manufacturers may be required to remove and recall the products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this week's latest RAPEX notification, issue 11, there are 28 high-risk consumer products. Among them, 8 products were notified because they contain hazardous chemicals that violate REACH regulations. 19 of these products are related to injuries, including dangerous products that could cause entanglement, suffocation, burns, and electric shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
