According to the Eurobarometer, a public opinion poll conducted by the European Council to assess international trends of concern, this survey focused on EU citizens' attitudes toward the environment. The report shows that EU citizens want to know more about the effects of chemicals in everyday products on human health. People from all 24 EU countries consider this type of information very important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Across all member states, Lithuanians are most concerned about the health effects of chemicals, with 63% of respondents selecting it as their top concern. Swedes and Cypriots rank second and third, respectively, with 61% and 58% of respondents considering the issue very important. In contrast, Portuguese people are the least concerned about the effects of chemicals, with only 26% of the population finding it important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overall, \"the health effects of chemicals in everyday products\" ranks third in importance among environmental issues of concern to Europeans, with 43% of Europeans wanting more information on this topic. Air pollution ranks first at 56% and water pollution at 50%. Women are also more likely than men to worry about the health hazards of chemicals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A survey found that four out of ten respondents said they lacked access to information about the health effects of chemicals found in everyday products. The survey, conducted between April and May this year at the request of the European Commission's Directorate General for Environment, sampled nearly 28,000 people from diverse social classes and regional backgrounds across the 28 EU member states. The questionnaires were administered in the languages \u200b\u200bof each member state to minimize errors caused by word translation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
