Many regions are also developing their own carbon peak roadmaps, with some provinces and cities explicitly aiming to be the first in the nation to achieve this goal. The State Grid Corporation of China recently released an action plan for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, proposing that by 2025, clean energy account for 50% of its electricity transmission. Meanwhile, China Huaneng established a carbon neutrality research institute, and energy companies such as Sinopec and CNOOC also announced the launch of carbon neutrality plans.
