On January 14, 2025, the Working Group on Pollution Prevention and Control Standards for Electrical and Electronic Products in Mainland China issued a notice on the coordinated implementation of the two standards, namely, the "Labeling Requirements for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (SJ/T 11364-2024) and the "Limit Requirements for Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (GB/T 26572-2011) Amendment No. 1.
The content of the notice is as follows: The recommended industry standard "Labeling Requirements for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (SJ/T 11364-2024) was issued on December 25, 2024, and will be implemented on April 1, 2025. The first amendment to the recommended national standard "Limit Requirements for Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (GB/T 26572-2011) was issued on June 29, 2024, and will be implemented on January 1, 2026. Enterprises are advised to make full preparations and implement the above two standards simultaneously no later than January 1, 2026. The Working Group on Pollution Prevention and Control Standards for Electrical and Electronic Products will actively communicate and coordinate with relevant departments.
On June 29, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration of China) issued China National Standards Announcement [2024] No. 14, approving 109 national standards and four amendments to them. Amendment No. 1 to GB/T 26572-2011, Limits of Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products, a supporting standard for China RoHS, was officially released and will take effect on January 1, 2026.
On December 25, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued an announcement approving the recommended industry standard "Labeling Requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (SJ/T 11364-2024), which will take effect on April 1, 2025. While the official text of the standard has not yet been published, the new standard, as submitted for approval, includes revisions to the following areas: updated standard name, expanded substance categories, updated and optimized hazardous substance content information tables, and diversified labeling methods.
