1.RoHS regulation standardizes the standard formally
RoHS Directive (Directive 2002/95/EC)
The RoHS Directive (Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances) became law in the European Union countries in February 2003. Member states must implement the law by August 2004 and product deadline for compliance is July 2006.
The purpose of the RoHS Directive is the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances and to reduce the waste management problems linked to substances likely to pose risks to health and the environment. The RoHS Directive specifically addresses the reduction of use and ultimate banning of the following substances:
· Cadmium
· Hexavalent Chromium
· Lead
· Mercury
· PBBs (Polybrominated biphenyls)
· PBDEs (Polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
