China RoHS restricted substances increased to 10

  • 2025-07-08

Release time:2024-07-05

On June 29, 2024, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration) issued Announcement No. 14 of China National Standards (2024), approving 109 national standards and four amendments to them. Amendment No. 1 to GB/T 26572-2011, "Limitations of Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products," a supporting standard for China RoHS, was officially released and will take effect on January 1, 2026.

The amendments mainly modified the following contents:

1. The four phthalates, di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), are included in the scope of application of the standard for the control of restricted substances;

2. Adjust the test method standard from GB/T 26125-2011 to GB/T 39560 (all parts) Determination of certain substances in electrical and electronic products;

3. Adjust the compliance determination rule for hexavalent chromium to "hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) is determined to be 'hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) negative' according to the method specified in GB/T 39560.701."

Comparison of GB/T 26572-2011 Standard and Amendment No. 1

chapterGB/T 26572-2011 standardAmendment No. 1
Chapter 1This standard specifies the maximum allowable content of restricted substances in electrical and electronic products and the rules for determining their compliance. This standard applies to the control of restricted substances such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)], polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in electrical and electronic products.This document specifies the maximum allowable content of restricted substances in electrical and electronic products and the rules for determining their compliance. This document applies to the control of restricted substances such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)], polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) in electrical and electronic products.
Normative referencesGB/T 26125-2011 Electrical and electronic products - Determination of six restricted substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers) (IEC 62321:2008 IDT)GB/T 39560 (all parts) Determination of certain substances in electrical and electronic products and GB/T 39560.701 Determination of certain substances in electrical and electronic products Part 7-1: Hexavalent chromium Colorimetric determination of hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] in colorless and colored anti-corrosion coatings on metals.
5.2The content of restricted substances in each test unit was determined according to the test method in GB/T26125-2011.The product splitting and the determination of restricted substances in each test unit shall be carried out in accordance with the corresponding methods of GB/T39560 (all parts).
Footnote a in Table 2Hexavalent chromium shall not be detected according to the test method in Appendix B of GB/T 26125-2011.Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] is determined to be "negative for hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)]" according to the method specified in GB/T39560.701.
Chapter 4The content of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in the homogeneous materials constituting electronic and electrical products shall not exceed 0.1% (mass fraction), and the content of cadmium shall not exceed 0.01% (mass fraction).The content of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)], polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) and di(2-ethyl)hexyl phthalate (DEHP) in the homogeneous materials constituting electronic and electrical products shall not exceed 0.1% (mass fraction); the content of cadmium (Cd) shall not exceed 0.01% (mass fraction).
