P&G launches preservative tracking website for consumers

  • 2017-10-12

P&G Launches Preservative Tracking Website for Consumers International consumer goods group P&G recently launched a website providing information on the safety ingredients of its products, including a preservative tracking network. Consumers can search for product information by category or type of preservative. The website currently offers information on preservatives found in categories such as baby wipes, skin care products, clothing and household cleaning products, air fresheners, and dental care products. The website also lists the five preservatives of greatest concern to consumers and provides related safety information: – Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives; – Isothiazolinones; – Parabens; – Triclosan; and – Triclocarban. P&G stated that the group is committed to providing consumers with transparent product information to help them make informed purchasing decisions. P&G lists over 140 fragrance ingredients that have been discontinued in its product line on its website and will gradually phase out the addition of aniline trichlorocarbonate to its products by the end of 2017. P&G product safety ingredient information website: http://us.pg.com/our-brands/product-safety/ingredient-safety. Ingredient disclosure has become an important issue in many US states. Last year (2016), the US House of Representatives introduced a bill requiring all cleaning products to disclose all their ingredients. Therefore, it is recommended that small and medium-sized enterprises in China producing cleaning products prepare for full ingredient disclosure to meet international regulatory requirements and smoothly integrate into the international market. Attached is a table of P&G product preservative ingredients, containing links to external websites providing more detailed information on the safe use of preservatives: Ingredient Safety_Preservatives.pdf.
