The achievements of the Green Dot program

First, the data shows that packaging waste, which had been increasing for a long time, has decreased since the Packaging Law was passed, and the situation has generally improved.

Second, the effects of resource recycling have far exceeded the original targets set by governments worldwide, prompting many multinational corporations to rethink their product design. When recycling is merely a taxpayer's responsibility, businesses typically don't take it seriously. Therefore, implementing this program, which requires businesses to bear the recycling costs of their products, provides a strong incentive to design materials that are recyclable.

Third, entrusting the post-consumption recycling stage of products to businesses creates a competitive advantage for waste reduction, fosters the development of economically viable and recyclable products, and provides significant economic incentives for green products and more efficient resource utilization.

Entering the 21st century, we must use resources more efficiently, incorporating environmental impacts into product pricing to achieve sustainable resource utilization. Inspired by the Germans' dedication and commitment to environmental protection and resource recycling, the garbage war in Taiwan has reached an alarming level. While environmental conservation concepts cannot be changed overnight, it is a major challenge facing Taiwan. Only when Taiwanese people cherish their land, value all resources, and reduce or even refuse the use of plastic products, fundamentally eliminating excessive and indiscriminate dumping of garbage, can we ensure the sustainable development of Taiwan's environment.
