Estimated Timeline for the 2008 EU RoHS/WEEE Directive Amendments

The following is a projected timeline for the 2008 RoHS and WEEE Directive amendments, released by the U.S. Department of Commerce in mid-January of this year (please refer to the attachment for the original document). The bolded dates below are confirmed dates. Please note that this document is for reference only and is not an official publication.

EU RoHS Directive 2008 Expected Timeline:
January–June 2008: RoHS Directive Impact Assessment Report
February–March 2008: Meeting of the RoHS Directive Implementation Authorities of EU Member States
February 13, 2008: Conclusion of the Second RoHS Directive Consultation
April 10, 2008: Meeting of the EU Technical Adaptation Committee Committee (TAC) Meetings** May 31, 2008: Oko-Institut publishes final substance report** July–December 2008: Draft amendment to the RoHS Directive proposed** October 31, 2008: Oko-Institut publishes final report on exempted substances** November–December 2008: Decision on whether to adopt the proposed RoHS Directive amendment draft** EU WEEE Directive 2008 Estimated Timeline:** January–March 2008: WEEE Directive Impact Assessment** Assessment Report
March-May 2008: Consultation on the WEEE Directive, lasting approximately eight weeks, may begin.
End of April 2008: Draft amendments to the WEEE Directive submitted.
May-September 2008: Internal review of the WEEE Directive amendments by the European Commission.
November 2008: Final Administrative Burdens Report on the WEEE Directive.
October-December 2008: Adoption of the final version of the WEEE Directive proposal and commencement of the legislative process.
