"Story Wear", a zero-waste fashion brand that creates new life for recycled jeans, and "Tomorrow Productions", an art planning team of Zhongtai Group that has injected vitality into idle spaces in many cities, jointly launched the "Recreating Stories" special exhibition , interprets the life of old objects from an artistic perspective, and invites two Taiwanese contemporary artists Yao Ruizhong and Liu Wenxuan to create works, which will be exhibited in the curatorial space on the 3rd floor of "NOKE Zhongtaile Life" in Dazhi Department Store until April 7.
Sustainable and Forever "Xu"'s zero-waste exhibition addresses the pollution issues in the fashion industry
"The fashion industry is the second largest source of pollution in the world." This is a fact that Story Wear has repeatedly emphasized since its inception. In his speech, founder Chen Guanbai said that the manufacturing process of a piece of clothing involves issues such as ocean pollution, land destruction, labor human rights, etc. This exhibition hopes to convey this message in a not boring but equally straightforward way.
On the day of the opening press conference, artist Feng Xiaoyue sang live. In his speech, Feng Xiaoyue mentioned that when he was a child, he and his family had the experience of picking up clothes from used clothes factories. On this day, he also wore a handmade denim lapel jacket designed by Story Wear for the exhibition, calling on the public to pay attention to possible defects in fabrics. Chemical contamination problem.
The jacket worn by Feng Xiaoyue is made of laser-jet denim spliced jeans. The raw materials are all from recycled fabrics or factory leftovers. It is completely handmade with 100%. There is a product "ID card" on the inside of the jacket, recording the identity of the maker and the production process. , try our best to be open and transparent.

Chen Guanbai said that openness and transparency are also crucial elements of zero-waste fashion. She mentioned that when she applied for the British zero-waste fashion "Positive Luxury" certification, she not only had to prove the source of product raw materials, but also had to take photos and document whether employees' transportation methods were low-carbon. But it is precisely because of these efforts and persistence that Story Wear has become the only certified fashion brand in Taiwan.
The title of the exhibition changes "continuous" to "wax", which refers to cloth and paper fibers. The latter echoes another commonly used material of Story Wear, "Waji linen yarn" (Abacell), leading the public to re-understand human beings from a microscopic perspective. relationship with objects, and invited two Taiwanese contemporary artists Yao Ruizhong and Liu Wenxuan to use stories to extend the life of objects.

In order to implement a zero-waste exhibition venue, the team spent a lot of ingenuity. The curtain with sustainability issues written on it is made of fabric made from recycled PET bottle fiber by "FNG Generation Design", a social enterprise that promotes a circular resource integration platform; the booth used to display the exhibits is made from an old paper mill Made of waste paper bricks provided by "Yongfengyu". Even the clothes hangers are made from coffee grounds and rice husks by the local environmentally friendly design brand "Li.Wai". Everything that can be seen and touched can be recycled and reused after the exhibition is dismantled.
Screens turned into "unplugged" kimono jackets, recycled denim turned into works of art
This exhibition is divided into three areas. The first exhibition area is the joint series between Story Wear and modern artist Yao Ruizhong. This is also the first physical exhibition of the large-scale art screen "Strait Wind and Cloud" created by Yao Ruizhong. The sapphire blue brushstrokes of the mountains, rivers and waves echo the charm of Dan. The blue of Ningbu. Next to the screen, there is a kimono jacket made by Story Wear that captures the elements of "Strait Storm". This work is made of the remaining materials of the garment using a stick-and-stitch crochet method. It does not rely on an electric sewing machine at all. It took 15 days to complete. , the only one in the world.
In addition to the screens, there is also Yao Ruizhong's serigraphy print "Goodbye - Bunny" on the exhibition site. This work is the 2024 new clothing series collaborated by the artist and Story Wear. The work's pattern has also been made into a T-shirt for sale.
Bypassing the screen, you will come to the exhibition area of artist Liu Wenxuan. Liu Wenxuan talked about the mounting technology of ancient painting scrolls. The "mounting cloth" used to mount each ancient painting represents the popular pattern of that era. The series of works "Dialogue" she brought to the exhibition this time are An anonymous ink painting from a flea market is framed with modern fabrics. Liu Wenxuan said with a smile that it was like "helping the painting wear what I think is the most fashionable contemporary clothes."
"Beard Has a Face", which debuts in this exhibition, is a work created by Liu Wenxuan to echo the spirit of Story Wear. "Actually, I only got to know Stroy Wear through this collaboration." Liu Wenxuan said that the inspiration for this work came from a jacket seen in Chen Guanbai's office.
She made the denim used in the jacket into a mounting fabric, then printed the recycled denim pattern on the paper, and used mesh spray painting to draw the stitches one stroke at a time, and finally sculpted it into a curled shape. , combining interlaced paper sculptures with Stroy Wear-sewn denim. Liu Wenxuan also inserted a crayon into the pocket of the denim cloth. "This is because the framer and restorer of this work are the same person." The crayon symbolizes the framed ID card.
This exhibition will be launched in the exhibition space on the 3rd floor of the newly opened department store "NOKE Zhongtaile Life" last year (2023). In addition to the static exhibition of works, three physical activities are also planned, including lectures and DIY courses. There are also on-site Zero-waste recycled products are on sale.
