Swedish TCO EdgeCertification Plans to increase recycled plastic content in monitor recycling
In response to the world's green environmental protection trend, the Swedish Federation of Professional Employees (TCO) promotes TCO certification for electronic and electrical equipment to ensure the environmental performance of products. TCO launched the TCO Certified Edge 1.0 verification standard for screen monitors in 2009, promoting the addition of at least 65% weight percentage of post-consumer recycled plastic into products. At the time, TCO Edge was regarded as the most stringent requirement for green and environmentally friendly product labels. .
Times have changed, and the output of post-consumer plastics on the market is steadily increasing. In contrast, the quality of post-consumer plastics can also reach a standard that is comparable to that of new materials. Therefore, after conducting data research and industry survey analysis with experts and scholars, TCO decided to raise the standards of TCO Edge again.
TCO released the draft version of TCO Certified Edge Displays 2.0 in mid-March on the official website for the public to download and refer to, and collect public opinions. The public comment period has now expired. TCO will review all suggestions internally and release the final version after revision.
The biggest difference between the TCO Certified Edge Displays 2.0 draft version and the 1.0 version is the content of post-consumer recycled plastic in the A1 product. It also adds two other options, A2 and A3. In other words, after operators meet any of the options, they can apply for TCO Edge certification. The three options in the 2.0 draft version are as follows:
A1 – The product contains a minimum of 851 TP3T weight percent post-consumer recycled plastic.
A2 – Products must not contain halogens.
A3 – All-around ergonomic monitor stand.
