EU Member States report cases of electronic products violating Annex 17 of the REACH Regulation

  • 2025-07-14

EU member states routinely inspect products put on the market to see if they comply with relevant laws and regulations. Any violations will be reported to the European Commission and publicized with relevant information such as the country of manufacture, product name, violations, and legal violations.

歐盟會員國例行性稽查投入市場的產品有無符合相關法律規範,違規產品案例將通報歐盟委員會並公開產品生產國、產品名稱、違規事項、違反法律...等產品相關資訊

Recently, the European Commission’s notification system (RAPEX) has reported a number of electronic products that violated Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation (EU) 1907/2006. The details of the violation cases announced are as follows:

  • The watch releases excessive amounts of nickel (test value: 18 μg/cm²/week). Nickel is a sensitizer and can cause allergic reactions if present in articles that come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin.
  • earphonePlastic materials contain excessive amounts of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (measured value: 10.9 wt%). This phthalate may harm the health of children and cause possible damage to their reproductive system.

Note: The above Chinese translation is for reference only. In case of any discrepancies, the original text of the regulations shall prevail.
