REACH Proposal List for Decabromodiphenyl Ethane Opens for Public Comment on June 27

The European Chemicals Agency has added decabromodiphenylethane to the recommended list under REACH and is currently open for public comment. It may be included in the candidate list of SVHCs in the future.

Decabromodiphenylethane is included in the REACH recommended list

Decabromodiphenylethane was added to the REACH Recommendation List on June 27, 2025, and is open for public comment until August 11, 2025. Due to its very persistent and very bioaccumulative properties, it is proposed for inclusion on the SVHC Candidate List.

While the proposed list of substances has not yet been formally regulated, it indicates that the substance's hazards have been recognized. If this substance is confirmed to be hazardous after future evaluation, it may be included on the SVHC Candidate List.
