EAEU RoHS Regulation TR 037/2016 is about to be revised!

The draft amendment to the EAEU RoHS was published on October 25, 2021, with public discussion scheduled from November 19, 2021, to January 21, 2022. This draft includes four key updates. SGS will keep you updated with the latest international developments.

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU, comprising Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan) enacted "On the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrotechnical and radio-electronic products" on October 18, 2016, and published a draft amendment to TR 037/2016 on October 25, 2021. The project is scheduled for public discussion from November 19, 2021 to January 21, 2022.

Main changes:

By adding four requirements for phthalates, the number of prohibited and restricted substances in EAEU RoHS will be expanded from 6 to 10.
The scope of product control has been expanded from 12 categories to 13 categories.
The exclusion list was revised from 43 items to 48 items.
Many new provisions have been added to address the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment. The following terms have been added: "waste electrical and electronic equipment," "label for separate collection," "best available techniques" (covering the collection, storage, transportation, treatment, disposal, and placement of waste electrical and electronic equipment), "recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment," "extended producer responsibility," "handling of waste electrical and electronic equipment," "separate label for waste collection," and "authority in the field of waste management related to electrical and electronic equipment."

Recycling label:

Products imported into the EAEU must pass a conformity assessment procedure before March 1, 2020 to demonstrate their compliance with EAEU TR 037/2016. The required documents for the application are as follows:

RoHS Certificate Application Form
Declaration of Conformity CE DoC
ISO 9001 certificate or CIG-023 factory inspection report
RoHS test report
Russian user manual
GLN Global Location Number, or GLONASS
