Starting from October 1, 2004, the regulations officially specify the following standards: ◎ EU’s consultation document issued in December 2003 proposed the following concentration limits: ‧ For the same material, the total concentration of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE must not exceed 0.1% by weight (1000 ppm). ‧ For the same material, the total concentration of cadmium must not exceed 0.01% by weight (100 ppm).
【Concentration unit conversion → 1% = 10,000 ppm; 1 ppm = 0.0001%】 ◎Starting from October 2004, the EU officially enforced the previously recommended values, and further required that materials of different compositions and colors, as well as materials of the same composition but different colors, must be tested separately. |
As countries worldwide increasingly prioritize environmental issues, packaging materials, often carelessly discarded by consumers after use, end up in the environment and soil, where hazardous substances can directly harm the environment. Therefore, various regulations have been established to standardize compliance with environmental protection standards.
