Mainland China publicly solicits feedback on the "Requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (Draft for Approval)

The draft revision of China's RoHS GB/T 26572-XXXX "Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" has been completed and is now open for public feedback.

中國大陸 RoHS GB/T 26572-XXXX《电器电子产品有害物质限制使用要求》修訂草案完成,公開徵求回饋意見。

Public comment period has commenced on the "Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" draft.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of mainland China has completed the drafting of three mandatory standards (drafts for approval), including the "Requirements for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products." The draft was announced on April 14, 2025, and public opinion is sought. The consultation period ends on April 21, 2025. This draft replaces GB/T 26572-2011 "Requirements for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" and its first amendment, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes. The main revisions are as follows:


Main revisions to the "Requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (Draft for Approval)

a) Added four terms and definitions: "hazardous substances", "environmentally friendly use period", "Catalogue of Compliance Management for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products", and "Application Exceptions" (see 3.2, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8);
b) Added requirements for the classification of electrical and electronic products and the restriction of the use of hazardous substances (see Chapter 4);
c) Added labeling requirements (see Chapter 6);
d) Added requirements for the implementation of the standard (see Chapter 7);
e) Deleted the definition of "restricted substances" (see 3.1 of GB/T 26572-2011);
f) Deleted the section on disassembly of electrical and electronic products (see Appendix A of GB/T 26572-2011);
g) Deleted the section on typical disassembly examples (see Appendix B of GB/T 26572-2011);
h) Deleted the section on application of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) Examples of technical assistance sample splitting (see Appendix C of GB/T 26572-2011);
i) Deleted the possibility of restricted substances in commonly used materials and components of electronic and electrical products (see Appendix D of GB/T 26572-2011)

For products produced or imported before the implementation of this document, they shall comply with the requirements of this document starting from the 13th month after the implementation of this document.
