How to enter the EU for vehicle electronic and electrical products

  • 2008-02-25

E mark: Technical requirements for vehicle components in the European Economic Community (EEA) are governed by ECE R10.02 testing regulations. E mark: Technical requirements for complete vehicles and components in the European Union (EU) are governed by Directive 2006/28/EC, including interference and immunity testing.

For devices that are not related to "immunity-related functions", according to 2006/28/EC DOC (i.e. CE DoC), the e-mark directive related tests can be performed in a laboratory audited by ISO 17025. After the tests prove compliance with the electromagnetic compatibility directive or the R&TTE Radio Frequency and Communication Terminal Equipment Directive, the CE mark can be directly affixed without the need for Type Approval, and the device can enter the EU market through self-declaration.
