ECHA adds DBDPE to the list of Substances of Very High Concern, bringing the total number of items on the list to 251.
On November 5, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced that "1,1′-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis[pentabromobenzene] (DBDPE)" has been added to the list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), bringing the total number of SVHCs to 251. DBDPE is a substance with "very durable and very bioaccumulative" (vPvB) properties and is widely used in various industries as a flame retardant.
