ECHA recommends adding 10 substances of high concern to the authorization list

ECHAIt is recommended that 10 substances of very high concern be added to the authorization list.

In June 2012, ECHA launched a public consultation regarding the addition of 10 Substances of Very High Concern (SHC) to the Authorization List (Annex XIV of the REACH Regulation). After six months of discussion and consultation, ECHA recommended that these 10 SHCs be added to the Authorization List in Annex XIV. This final recommendation was submitted to the European Commission, EU member states, and the European Parliament for a final decision. Following legislation by the European Parliament, these substances may become officially listed as "Authorized Substances" in Annex XIV of REACH. These substances were prioritized for authorization due to their high reproductive toxicity, high carcinogenicity, and high workplace exposure risk, thus increasing the urgency for legislative control.

The following table lists the 10 SVHCs recommended by ECHA:
