RoHS & WEEE Enterprise Questionnaire Survey

  • 2007-05-25

The Association Connecting Electronics Industries (IPC) has been commissioned by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprises and Industry (DG Enterprises and Industry) to conduct a study on the impact of RoHS and WEEE regulations on corporate inputs.

This research survey will be led by ECOLAS (Environment Consultancy and Assistance) and RPA (Risk & Policy Analysts), and the research team has developed two different questionnaires to facilitate the analysis of the survey.

IPC stated that the research and investigation on RoHS will attempt to quantify the results, and therefore will begin with a cost-benefit analysis of the economic and environmental impacts of the RoHS directive; the RoHS questionnaire will focus on the cost-benefit of compliance, the technical costs of RoHS elimination, and the social impact on businesses.

As for the research and survey on WEEE, it evaluates the industrial innovation and competitiveness caused by the WEEE Directive, and further specifies the key factors and requirements that have a significant impact. The WEEE questionnaire focuses on five themes: detailed company information, total company costs incurred in WEEE, related research and development costs, producer responsibility programs, and trade issues.

The deadline for the questionnaire survey was May 25, 2007.
